چکیده
Abstract The cubic or third-power (TP) nonlinear energy sink (NES) has been proven to be an effective method for vibration suppression, owing the occurrence of targeted transfer (TET). However, TET is unable triggered by low initial input, and thus TP NES would get failed under low-amplitude vibration. To resolve this issue, a new type with fractional nonlinearity, e.g., one-third-power (OTP) proposed. dynamic behaviors linear oscillator (LO) OTP are investigated numerically, then both feature attenuation performance evaluated. Moreover, analogy circuit established, simulations carried out verify design concept NES. It found that threshold two orders magnitude smaller than parametric analysis shows heavier mass lower stiffness coefficient beneficial in system. Additionally, significant usually accompanied efficient dissipation. Consequently, can realize input energy, which should promising approach micro-vibration suppression.

Optimization under Uncertainty of Nonlinear Energy Sinks
Nonlinear Energy Sinks (NES) are used to passively reduce the amplitude of vibrations. This reduction is made possible by introducing a nonlinearly stiffening behavior in the NES, which might lead to an irreversible transfer of energy between the main system (e.g., a building) and the NES. However, this irreversible transfer, and therefore the efficiency of the NES, is strongly dependent on the...

Optimal Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES) is employed in vibration suppression of the beams subjected to successive moving loads in this paper. As a real application, a typical railway bridge is dynamically modeled by a single-span beam and a traveling high-speed train is simulated by a series of successive moving loads. Genetic algorithm is employed as the optimization technique and optimal paramete...

1. Abstract Nonlinear Energy Sinks (NESs) are a promising technique for passively reducing the amplitude of vibrations, especially for use as energy pumping devices for buildings under seismic loading. Through nonlinear stiffness properties, a NES is able to passively and irreversibly absorb energy. Unlike the traditional Tuned Mass Damper (TMD), the NES has no inherent natural frequency, allow...
متن کاملSharp Energy Estimates for Nonlinear Fractional Diffusion Equations
We study the nonlinear fractional equation (−∆)u = f(u) in R, for all fractions 0 < s < 1 and all nonlinearities f . For every fractional power s ∈ (0, 1), we obtain sharp energy estimates for bounded global minimizers and for bounded monotone solutions. They are sharp since they are optimal for solutions depending only on one Euclidian variable. As a consequence, we deduce the one-dimensional ...
متن کاملGravitational Potential Energy Sinks in the Oceans
Gravitational potential energy (GPE) is lost during convective adjustment. Using monthly mean climatological datasets, the annual mean GPE loss due to convective adjustment in the world oceans is estimated at 0.24 TW. Conversion from the mean-state GPE to eddies GPE and kinetic energy (KE) is also estimated, using the commonly accepted Gent-McWilliams scheme. Our estimate is that about 1.1TW is...
